Foreign / NRI Category: Who Can Apply

Foreign / NRI category seats are available only for:

A foreign national is a person who is a citizen of a country other than India, holding a passport/citizenship of their respective country.

A Non-Resident Indian (NRI) is

  1. an Indian Citizen who resides in India for less than one hundred & eighty-two days during the preceding financial year, or
  2. one who has gone out of India or who stays outside India for employment, or
  3. who has gone out of India or who stays outside India for carrying on business or vocation outside India, or
  4. who has gone out of India or who stays outside India for any other purpose indicating his intention to stay outside India for an uncertain

An Overseas Citizen of India is a lifetime visa status. This is applicable on

  1. A person who used to be an Indian citizen
  2. A person who holds an OCI card
  3. A person with at least one parent, grandparent, or great-grandparent who is/was an Indian citizen
  4. A person married to an Indian citizen or an existing OCI for at least two continuous years

A citizen of a foreign country (other than a citizen of Bangladesh or Pakistan) is a PIO if

  1. He/she at any time held an Indian passport; OR
  2. He/she or either of his/her parents or either any of his/ her grandparents was a citizen of India;
  3. He/she is a spouse (not being a citizen of Bangladesh or Pakistan) of an Indian citizen or (a) or (b) above.

Children of Indians working in Gulf Countries & Southeast Asian countries, (the candidates whose parents are working at Gulf countries or Southeast Asian countries) only are eligible under this category.

Candidate (sponsored by parents OR brother / sister of parents* OR brother / sister of the candidate* OR grandparents of the candidate* OR spouse of the candidate*).

Note : * The sponsorer must be a foreign national or hold NRI status.

Note: NRI/ NRI sponsored/ PIO/ OCI/CIWGC/CIWSEA applicants shall not be allowed to be converted into General/Indian Category.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates seeking admissions to UnderGraduate (UG) / Post Graduate (PG) should have obtained their qualifications from a recognized Board / University.

For Foreign Students (AIU equivalence)

Admissions are in conformity with the guidelines set by the Association of Indian Universities and the Statutory Bodies of India like the Indian Nursing Council, All India Council for Technical Education, Bar Council of India, etc.

Only candidates who have the requisite qualification from foreign universities or Boards of Higher Education accredited and recognized by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), Govt. of India, New Delhi are eligible to apply at Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth for admission.

Candidates with Foreign qualifications must submit equivalency certificate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi, as per program requirements.

For Under Graduation (UG)

  • Prospective students must have completed 10+2 or equivalent examination from recognized Board/ University.
  • Students who have appeared for their 10+2 or equivalent examination and awaiting their final results are also eligible to apply. (subject to their passing before commencement of the program.)

For Post Graduation (PG)

  • Prospective students must have completed full time 3/4 year Bachelor Degree program in any discipline from any statutory University with minimum 50% marks at graduate level, except for the programs which require graduates with specific subject specializations. These specializations are mentioned on the respective institute information. (link to program offered)
  • In case of Engineering Stream the prospective students must have completed full time 4 year Bachelor Degree program from any statutory University with minimum 50% marks at graduate level.
  • Students appearing for their final year can apply but their admission will be subject to obtaining a minimum of 50% marks at the qualifying examination.

Note:

  • Students having backlogs / fail in their final results are not eligible for admission
  • Each program has specific eligibility criteria; please check the respective institute information for the same.
  • The admission to the program is subject to fulfilment of the specific eligibility criteria.
  • It is the responsibility of the student to ascertain whether they possess the requisite qualifications for admission.
  • Completion of the application and payment of the application fee does not mean acceptance of eligibility.
  • Final eligibility for admission will be decided by Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth after submission of all the required documents.

  •   Migration Certificate
  •   AIU equivalency certificate

For Post Graduation (PG)

  •   10th or equivalent Final Mark sheet
  •   10+2 or equivalent Final Mark sheet
  •   Graduation Certificate or equivalent
  •   Transcript of Degree (if required)
  •   Photocopy of Valid Passport
  •   Medical Certificate
  •   Citizenship Proof
  •   Character Certificate (if applicable)
  •   Passport Size Clear Photograph
  •   Migration Certificate
  •   AIU equivalency certificate
