Kathak is one of the important Classical dances of India is as old as 200 B.C with its reference in Natyashastra compiled by Bharat Muni. Kathak has its origins in the traditionally travelling bards of Northern India . The emphasis was given on the storytelling and also justifies famous adage 'Katha kahe so Kathak Kahalave'. Kathak dance is characterized by both abhinaya (gestures) as well as strong rhythmic techniques. Kathak dance underwent a series of development down the ages. Today Kathak is presented on the proscenium stage with variety of styles and techniques. This course brings to the students the required discipline and acumen with which they will become professional Kathak Dancers .
